National Electoral Commission (NEC)
The National Electoral Commission (NEC) is an independent governmental institution established in 1993 under Article 74(1) of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, 1977. Its primary mandate is to oversee and administer electoral processes in Tanzania, ensuring they are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner. NEC plays a pivotal role in upholding the democratic principles of the nation by organizing and supervising elections at various levels, including presidential, parliamentary, and local government elections.
