DKT Tanzania was established in 2013 to respond to these issues through combined social marketing and clinical networking efforts. DKT Tanzania provides a wide range of high quality, affordable contraceptives. DKT Tanzania considers its mission to procure low cost, user-friendly contraceptives and fill the gaps in the supply chain that block women from using these products. Furthermore, the organization aims to challenge perceived norms regarding sex and contraception to move family planning and HIV prevention into the mainstream.
To reach more young people in Tanzania, DKT partnered with UNFPA to launch iPlan, a microinsurance package that offers the full range of family planning services for about $4 per year. The package provides access to family planning products, testing, and services. Over 4,000 students enrolled in the program in its first year.
DKT Tanzania socially markets male condoms, implants, 3-month injectables, emergency and oral contraception, IUDs, and products for safe post-abortion care.
