Introduction

Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA) is a multilateral agency formed through an Agreement by the five Governments of the Republic of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the Republic of Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Uganda. The Central Corridor is the integrated multimodal transport and logistics network that connects the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA) Member States to the sea through the port of Dar es Salaam. Cooperation among the Member States for the development of the Central Corridor is governed by the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agreement, which was signed on the 2nd September 2006. Under the agreement, the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency (CCTTFA) was established with the mandate to coordinate the Member States’ efforts to ensure coordination and cooperation in the management of transit transport along the corridor. CCTTFA delivers its mandate through four main institutions i.e., the Interstate Council of Ministers (ICM), the Executive Board, the Stakeholders Consultative Committee (STACON) and the Permanent Secretariat. The Permanent Secretariat was established in July 2010 with its head office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
