Director, Right-Fit Evidence (RFE) Unit

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Senior Director of RFE

Position Summary:

As the Director of IPA’s Right-Fit Evidence (RFE) Unit, you will lead the development and oversight of a portfolio of evidence- and learning-related advisory services. Working with various implementing organizations, funders, and governments globally, you will champion civil society engagement in consumer protection, inclusive and sustainable trade practices, and gender integration in programming. Your role involves project management, strategic leadership, and fostering innovation within the RFE team.

Responsibilities:

Lead Advisory Engagements (60 – 70%):

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, including implementers, funders, and government agencies, leading multiple project teams to develop tailored solutions for evidence, learning, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) needs.
  • Oversee workshops and written deliverables, provide technical assistance, and lead community practice groups.
  • Manage a portfolio of engagements across sectors such as education, technology, agriculture, and livelihoods, ensuring successful project delivery.

New Business Development (20 – 25%):

  • Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities, develop engagement portfolios, and cultivate relationships with potential funders and partners.
  • Represent RFE externally, contribute to thought leadership, and engage in conferences and events to promote IPA’s work in evidence-based practices.

Contribute to RFE’s Leadership (10 – 15%):

  • Collaborate with RFE’s global leadership team to drive team growth, innovation, and internal management systems.
  • Provide mentorship and expertise to team members, participate in strategic planning, and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, including project management and engagement with senior-level stakeholders across sectors.
  • Expertise in evidence, learning, monitoring, and evaluation strategies and systems.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Excellent project and people management abilities, with coaching and training experience.
  • Proficiency in stakeholder management and client-facing communication.
  • Experience working in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Master’s degree in international public policy, economics, or related fields.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in consultancy or similar professional services.
  • Expertise in multiple sectors of international development and/or humanitarian work.
  • Networks in the international development and/or humanitarian sectors.
  • Experience working with philanthropy and government stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with M&E technology and data collection software.
  • Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish.
  • Lived experience in low- and middle-income countries.

Compensation:

  • Starting annual gross salary for US-based employees: $115,500 – $142,000.
  • Salary for locations outside the US will vary based on IPA’s salary scale ranges for specific locations.

Reports to: Senior Director, RFE
